Welcome to Voices online magazine!
My name is Sophia Thomas, I use she/her/hers pronouns, I am a Creative Writing major, and I am very excited to be a new associate editor of Voices!
I was first introduced to Voices at my very first FITz meeting when my team elected me to be an associate editor, along with my other wonderful associate, Alicia. This is all very new to me, but I love getting to have this opportunity to learn something new and work with an incredible group of people.
As it is my major, I have been taking many Creative Writing classes, and plan to take more, as well as English classes, during my years at RWU. Now, with Creative Writing as my major, taking courses, and being a new member of FITz, I’m getting all the Creative Writing opportunities I can!
Voices was founded in 2019 by students in the English and Creative Writing community. It is a space where all kinds of work is welcome and can be featured on our platform. Be it fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or visual arts, this online magazine features it all.
This is also a safe space where the community can share input with others. Using Kudos we can give praise towards each other’s work. If we want to chat with each other or share some funny messages, we use Chatter. To submit work that we wish to have featured, we use Creative. If the Department at any point shares information for any internship, publishing, or on campus activities, it can be found in Announcements. Events is a great tool to check out what upcoming events we’re hosting. There are lots of ways to get involved and stay connected here!
I hope that this site serves as a welcoming and safe space for you. If you have any questions, you can reach out to me at sthomas873@g.rwu.edu. Or you can also reach out to my partner in crime, Alicia at aortizalba799@g.rwu.edu.
Your bookworm and writer in progress,
Sophia Thomas
