Linden Place Writer’s Residency

Attention all writers!

Apply today to have your work featured in the Writer’s Residency at Linden Place historic house museum in downtown Bristol!

The Writer’s Residency is a free, month-long, daytime-only residency for creative writers who wish to interpret the history of the museum through their work. The Residency itself will be taking place during the month of April to which eight applicants total will be selected by three literary judges, who will also be choosing the works that will be featured in an interactive public reading in June. There is no cost to apply!

And this year, the residency will be accepting submissions to all undergraduate students at Roger Williams University! They are accepting all genres of fiction, poetry, screenwriting, playwriting, and narrative nonfiction.

Those who are selected will be required to work at Linden Place for twelve hours during the month of April and are expected to start a new work that incorporates an aspect of Linden Place.

Getting accepted also comes with:

  •         A free audio tour of Linden Place
  •         On-site workspace through the month of April
  •         Research support from museum professionals
  •         A $100 stipend for travel and related expenses
  •         ½ hour one-on-one consult with sensitivity reader Renee Harleston of Writing Diversely
  •         Press and publicity
  •         An audience to hear works in progress

Any undergraduate student from any department can apply, and will receive a 20% discount on the application fee with the code “rwu” applied at checkout. Additionally, anyone who applies by February 20th will receive an early bird reduced application fee.
