This week we are pleased to spotlight Cassandra Bousquet (she/her/hers)! She is a freshman, or as she prefers to call it, “freshette,” with a Creative Writing major and two newly added minors in History and Music. Cassandra was recently accepted into The Linden Place Writer’s residency program after applying samples of her poetry and her pitch “to write a collection of poetry about the history of Linden Place told through the perspective of the Linden trees.” She is also the youngest of eight writers to be accepted into the program!
The Writer’s Residency is a program for creative writers that wish to interpret the complicated history of Linden Place through a creative lens. The writers must complete a minimum of 12 hours at Linden Place during April doing research and writing.
We had the pleasure of speaking with Cassandra, and below is what she is most excited about in her newest endeavor:
“I am most excited about getting to sit in the Conservatory. I have a lovely view of the Linden trees and other greenery. In addition, it has been really special to get to learn more about the complicated history of this house and grounds and to find out that Theodora Colt wrote poetry about the Linden trees as well! This is a unique opportunity to reimagine history and get to do what I love most: writing!”
We cannot be prouder of Cassandra and we wish her the best of luck!
