Trip to London – Rievaulx Abbey

This past weekend, the London crew took a mini trip to York and visited some incredible places. Including the Rievaulx Abbey.

Rievaulx Abbey stands today as the ruins of an old cathedral. It was founded in 1132, and was the most important Cistercian abbey in England. In the 12th century, it was home to 140 monks and 500 brothers and servants. In 1538, the Suppression of Monasteries left only the remains of Rievaulx.

This ruined cathedral looks more like a crumbled castle. The beautiful scenery made for gorgeous photos – and made some of us feel like kings and queens! We also smelled flowers there that “transported us back in time”, and heard “echoes of the past.”

This was definitely one of the most fascinating landmarks we’ve visited so far! Just take a look at how stunning it looks in these photos!
