Stonehenge is one of the most mysterious landmarks known to mankind.
On their way to a weekend trip to Bath, the London clan made a pit stop at this glorious site. Located in Wiltshire, England, Stonehenge is a ring of large, vertical standing stones, each weighing about 25 tons. It was built around 5,000 years ago.
It remains a mystery as to why Stonehenge was built. Some presume it was a religious site, but no one really knows the true purpose of this massive prehistoric landmark. You can check out the photo (last) of a sign that states “The purpose of Stonehenge is lost to us. There will always be debate about its meaning.” There was even a wall full of quotes by people commenting about Stonehenge and its meaning, and most say that it really is unknown, and historians are still trying to understand what its purpose was (fourth photo down).
Although the history of the site itself is confusing, the London students found it fascinating and took some fabulous photos. Sophia (one of our senior editors) even got a great shot of herself posing like Merida from Pixar’s Brave! Since Merida visits Stonehenge in her film and she is Sophia’s favorite Disney Princess, this was so much fun to do!
It’s certainly safe to say that the London students made some great memories here!
