Become Part of Racial Justice in the Classroom

Professors Dr. Gentles Peart and Dr. D’Amore are pleased to hold the 4th year-long community course “Racial Justice in the Classroom: Anti-Racist Mentoring for Underserved High School Youth.” This course offers students the opportunity to become anti-racist mentors, with support from our cohort-centered strategy that pairs classroom work at RWU with mentoring work at Providence Promise.

The course is open for sophomores, juniors, and seniors of next year to apply to, and particularly encourages BIPOC and first-gen students to apply. It’s a community class that promotes a place of support and upliftment. The course works and counts as an internship, and is also designed to fit into General Education requirements so that every student from any major can participate. The QR code above provides a link to the full explanation of the opportunity and also has the application form for the course, which is due on March 22nd. An info session also providing more information about the course will be held on February 27th at 4 PM, in SB 107 or on Zoom.

This course provides a wonderful opportunity to help others and learn more about how to lead important discussions about race, so we highly recommend applying!
