Notes From the Editor

Letter From the Editor: Nina Bodnar

Welcome to Voices online magazine!

My name is Nina Bodnar (she/her/hers,) and I am an English Literary Studies major. I am elated to be the new associate editor of Voices!

I have had the privilege of taking multiple English and Creative Writing courses the past two semesters, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the plethora of reading and writing opportunities these classes offer. So far, my favorite has been Fiction from Africa with Dr. Scheinberg, because I deeply value the different perspectives this literature has provided for me. I love learning about various life experiences, especially through books!

I was initially introduced to Voices when I attended Accepted Students Day. I had the pleasure of chatting with the FITz members, and they told me all about the internship program, including, of course, Voices! I have never had the ability to participate in a student-led online magazine before, so I am thrilled for this new experience. I have loved learning about the Voices program, especially through the wonderful Sophia Thomas.

Voices was founded in 2019 by students in both the English and Creative Writing departments. The magazine is a safe space where the Roger Williams University community can share input with others. Using Kudos, we congratulate student and alumni accomplishments. We use Chatter to share fun messages with each other, especially book quotes! Student work is highlighted in Creative. We proudly feature a variety of pieces, from fiction and nonfiction to poetry and photography. Information from the department regarding internship, publishing, or on-campus opportunities can be found in Announcements. Lastly, Events is a great tool to find out about upcoming events related to the English Literature and Cultural Studies department. Voices is an excellent place to stay up to date and connect with anything student activity related.

I hope this site serves as a welcoming, entertaining space for you to connect with and contribute to the Roger Williams University community. If you have any questions, you can contact me at nbodnar167@g.rwu.edu.

With love,

Nina Bodnar
